FreshPatents.com Method and communication system device for the generation or processing of ofdm symbols in a transmission system with spread user data OFDM symbols are generated using data from one or more users or from one or more data sources represented on a number of sub-carriers. To inhibit multiple-access interference on application of the CDMA principle, the data are transformed in a data-source specific manner and only subsequently allocated to the sub-carriers,...
IEEE Throughput Optimal Distributed Power Control of Stochastic Wireless Networks The maximum differential backlog (MDB), or “backpressure” control policy of Tassiulas and Ephremides has been shown to adaptively maximize the stable throughput of multihop wireless networks with random traffic arrivals and queueing. The practical implementation of the MDB policy in wireless networks with mutually interfering links, however, requires the development of distributed optimization algorithms. Within the context of code-division multiple-access (CDMA)-based multihop wireless netwo...

CDMA Technology CDMA
consistently provides better capacity for voice and data
communications than other commercial mobile technologies, allowing
more subscribers to connect at any given time, and it is the common
platform on which 3G technologies are built. CDMA is a "spread
spectrum" technology, allowing many users to occupy the same
time and frequency allocations in a given band/space. As its name
implies, CDMA assigns unique codes to each communication to
differentiate it from others in the same spectrum. In a world of
finite spectrum resources, CDMA enables many more people to share
the airwaves at the same time than do alternative technologies.

About CDMA Today there are two major standards for cell phone
technology. CDMA and GSM. Almost all phones in the United States
operate on either of these networks. However, the average person
tends to be unfamiliar with these terms. Common cell phone service
providers like Verizon and Sprint use CDMA technology, while
carriers like T-Mobile, and Cingular operate on the GSM network.

The
Basics of IS-95, cdmaOne IS-95 was the first CDMA system to gain
widespread use and is found widely in North America. Its brand name
is cdmaOne and the initial specification for the system was IS95A,
but its performance was later upgraded under IS-95B. It is this
later specification that is synonymous with cdmaOne. Apart from
voice the system is also able to carry data at rates up to 14.4 kbps
for IS-95A and 115 kbps for IS-95B. |

TD-SCDMA (12/02, PDF) China’s
chance TD-SCDMA (3G) mobile technology has enormous potential in the
largest mobile market in the world, with sales of over five million
handsets a month. China has no wish to be dependent on Western
technology, and this has led to investment in the new standard.
TD-SCDMA enables the rapid spread of telecommunications to thinly
populated areas, and the broad transmission bandwidth also provides
access to the Internet. |

Where Does WAP fit in? WAP brings Internet content and advanced
services to digital cellular phones and other wireless terminals.
WAP is a global wireless protocol specification that works across
the following wireless network technology types: GSM (900, 1800
& 1900MHz), PDC, CDMA (IS-95 and/or IS-707), US-TDMA (IS-136),
iDEN (ESMR), DataTAC, Mobitex, CDPD, DECT, PHS, FLEX, and ReFLEX.
Applications using WAP are scaleable across a variety of transport
options and device types. A common standard offers potential
economies of scale, encouraging cellular phone and other device
manufacturers to invest in developing compatible products. With WAP,
cellular and other wireless network carriers and content providers
are able to develop new differentiated service offerings as a way to
attract new subscribers, while consumers benefit from more and
varied choices in mobile communications applications, advanced
services and Internet access. |
